Job Description
We are currently recruiting experienced Industrial Area Project Engineer on behalf of a major international Company
Activities
• To coordinate all activities related to Tilenga Industrial Area.
• To ensure technical support to Tilenga Project team as well as coordination with various Package Engineers as required.
• To manage additional Studies if necessary.
• Assist the Package Manager with the coordination of the Industrial Area detail design within EPC Contractor premises.
• Prepare and coordinate ad-hoc studies that may be required for the development of the CPF in parallel of the Enabling Infrastructure, Drilling and offsite activities.
• Assist the Package Manager with the preparation of the detail design periodic reports and liaise with Enabling Infrastructure, Offsites, Drilling Package Managers to ensure that detail design reporting is consistently reflected in the overall Company report(s)
• On request, assist Package Managers with the preparation, evaluation and award of specific "call for tenders" for ad-hoc studies and/or Purchase Orders.

Qualifications/Experience required
• Engineering degree.
• At least 6 years’ experience (Company graduate program engineer or relevant experience).
• Operations and site work experience.
• Good communication & organizational skills, able to work in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to ensure coordination with Project Team and Contractors.

WIU is currently seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill the following vacant position for her growing operations:
LOCATION: Head Office, Kampala (with frequent travel to Field sites)

JOB PURPOSE: The Programme Engineer will apply professional engineering knowledge and expertise to design and develop construction project plans. He/She will provide technical oversight for all WIU’s construction works to ensure compliance with engineering best practices and standard operating procedures to meet programmatic needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
• A postgraduate qualification in Project Management is an added advantage
• Masters’ in Construction Management is a desirable Minimum 4 years’ experience in a management role with contractors and handling building construction.
• Full registration with UIPE is desirable
• Familiar with construction practices, materials and equipment
• Proficiency in MS Office Ability to work under pressure
• Proven problem-solving skills and quick decision-making.
• Highly analytical
• Experience working and coordinating interventions with diverse I/NGOs, Partners and Government agencies.

JOB DETAILS:
Project Site Engineer (Electrical)
Reporting

The Project Site Engineer (Electrical) shall report to the Project Engineer.
Working relations
Liaises with the Owner’s Engineer and other relevant project stakeholders.

Purpose of the job
The Project Site Engineer (Electrical) shall supervise and ensure that all mechanical and electrical construction activities are implemented in line with the approved designs and statutory requirements. The electrical construction shall cover; MN power services, CCTV network, fibre optic services, street lighting and all other electrical components of the project.
Key areas of focus
1. Project technical studies and designs;
2. Project construction and installation activities;
3. Oversee the day to day project electrical engineering and technical activities;
4. Reviews and inspects project deliverables.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The Project Site Engineer (Electrical) shall be expected to carry out the following duties and responsibilities;
1. Assist the Project Engineer on electrical engineering and technical related matters on the project;
2. Ensure that UIA’s interests are protected in the technical studies, designs and construction phases of all project infrastructure;
3. In consultation with the Project Engineer, review all electrical engineering requirements from the Owner’s Engineer.
4. Inspect all project electrical engineering activities and ensure that construction is as per approved project requirements and statutory provisions;
5. In consultation with the Project Engineer, review and advice on all proposed project electrical engineering changes or variations and ensure that all approved project electrical changes or variations are implemented;
6. Preparation of periodic monitoring and performance reports as per the project reporting requirements;
7. Ensure that all project electrical engineering documentation is maintained.
8. Facilitate the securing of requisite permits and approvals in relation to statutory requirements.
9. Any other duties that may be assigned.
Outputs
The Project Site Engineer (Electrical) measurable outputs shall include;
1. Approved Project deliverables such as approved project studies and designs;
2. Project electrical engineering and technical documentation;
3. Project issues log, changes or variations log;
4. Project periodic performance and monitoring reports;

Qualifications
The Project Site Engineer (Electrical) shall possess a minimum of the following;
1. An honors Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
2. A master’s degree shall be an added advantage.
3. A post graduate qualification and or membership to any project management professional body shall be an added advantage.
4. Registration with the Engineers Registration Board is a MUST.

Experience
The Project Site Engineer (Electrical) shall possess a minimum of the following;
1. Must have at least 5+ years’ work experience in supervision and management of projects post registration with Engineers Registration Board.
2. Proof of experience in working in complex environments and large infrastructure and or electrical works particularly in the field of construction supervision and management.
3. Proof of experience in implementation of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects.
4. Experience in contract management, project management and programming-related work.
5. Proof of experience in working on infrastructure projects will be an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies
1. Ability to work with minimal supervision with strong organizational skills;
2. Technical report writing and oral communication skills.
3. Must be results-oriented, a team player, exhibiting high levels of enthusiasm, tact, diplomacy and integrity.
4. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and professional skills in interacting with investors, government and development partners.
5. Project management skills.
6. Attention to detail skills.
7. Openness to change and ability to manage complexities.
8. Competencies with MS (Office, Project and Visio) and other professional software such as Tilos, Micro station, ArchiCAD, & Adobe Acrobat Pro are a MUST.
