Job Overview

The ICT officer provides help desk and systems support. He/She is responsible for identifying network requirements, install upgrades, monitor network performance, troubleshooting network, server and database problems in addition to resolving end user requests and incidents for the Company.

KEY DUTIES
• Plan & maintain the Local Area Network and the Wide Area Network within the Group.
• Establish network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
• Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation by maintaining documentation.
• Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs by providing references and support.
• Ensure smooth functioning of the telephone systems at all locations including installations, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance
• Oversee installation; preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of all computer hardware in the Group
• Liaise with third party entities including Internet Service Providers and telecommunication providers for respective services
• Draft, update and enforce the Company policy on use of IT equipment and resources
• Prepare daily activity reports for submission to the Senior ICT Specialist
• Attend to all Network and Hardware malfunctions
• Any other duties assigned by the Senior ICT Specialist

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor of Computer Science & Information Technology.
• Knowledge of Telecommunications Engineering and any other related field.
• Professional certification is a must.
• 3 years relevant work experience in hardware maintenance and repair, Systems administration
• Experience working with various operating systems (Windows Server 2012; Windows Desktop 7, 8, 10; Linux)
• Knowledge or basic experience with computer networking; wireless connectivity, cable management, switching
• Knowledge or experience with trouble ticket management using ticketing tools such as RESTO, MAXIMO, REMEDY, ZENDESK, etc.
• Knowledge in current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 packages including SharePoint
• Expertise with implementing, configuring, and testing software solutions
• Expertise with troubleshooting and fixing computer hardware problems

Reports to: Information Technology Service Manager

Job Purpose:
Ensure smooth & efficient Information Technology operation at field level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Computer setup, maintenance and troubleshooting
• Printer setup, maintenance and troubleshooting. Software installation and updating
• Antivirus installation and updating.
• Provide Information Technology related training and support to end users.
• Ensure network connectivity for smooth operation of Orbit-R and other systems.
• Service and Monitor Information Technology equipment at field level.
• Liaise with supervisor for any technology advancement. Any other duties as may be assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Computing or related field
• At least 2 years' work experience in an IT support or related field.
• Knowledge of hardware trouble shooting and repair
• Skills on Various Software installation & Maintenance Skills on Windows Operating System
• Knowledge on Various IT Security issues and Antivirus software
• Must have strong problem solving skills and the ability to travel long distances

JOB DETAILS:

Reports to: Information & Communication Technology Infrastructure Manager

Job Purpose:
To provide quality end to end Data Centre, Networks, and related Infrastructure services and solutions across the BRAC Uganda Bank estate, through operational planning, technical support, supplier management, and project support. She/he will manage and keep the BRAC Uganda Bank Data Centre and Network infrastructure running smoothly in an efficient manner to ensure maximum availability of services to the bank's customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support and manage the Data Centre and Network Infrastructure, identifying, troubleshooting, solving and documenting data centre and network connectivity and performance issues.
• Support and manage the Telephony Infrastructure
• Evaluate equipment requirements and proposals for supply, implementation and development of new or existing data centre/networks/telephony services
• Ensure that project deliverables are met and executed according to projects scope by liaising effectively with Project Managers and the business.
• Support and maintain service continuity strategies for the Data Centres, Networks, Telephony and other BRAC Infrastructure Ensure SLAs are followed and met, through the monitoring and reporting of service targets and the undertaking of corrective action where necessary.
• Ensure that all BRAC Data Centres, Networks, Telephony and other infrastructure are in good condition to provide optimal service
• Configure, deploy, maintain and monitor Data Centre and Network equipment that include Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Leased Lines, Call Managers, Voice Gateways, and other infrastructural components across the BRAC WAN
• Manage network security tools like firewall, anti-virus and intrusion detection systems.
• Any other duties as may be assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer
• Science or related field
• At least 3 years' experience in an ICT Department in a busy Commercial environment/Financial Institution with at least 1 year in a Data Centre & Network Support role.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CAN) Certification
• Cisco Certified Network Professional Routing & Switching (CCNP R&S) is added advantage.
• Good interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving and good communication skills
• Ability to work in a multidimensional/multicultural setting
