Materials Specialist Intern
The Materials Specialist Intern will support warehouse and materials operations in the assigned location. Under supervision, the intern will learn how warehouse activities are executed in alignment with company standards, including good housekeeping practices and a strong focus on safety and efficiency. The intern will assist with receiving, storing, and issuing goods to internal and external customers in a timely manner. They will also help maintain inventory accuracy both physically and in the Warehouse Management System and provide support in basic planning and stock replenishment activities.
Responsibilities
- Learn and support compliance with established SLB procedures and company standards to help maintain effective control over physical product flow and storage in the warehouse and other inventory areas.
- Assist warehouse teams in executing core materials processes such as receiving, issuing, cycle counting, and junking, gaining exposure to end‑to‑end warehouse operations.
- Help prepare and apply required documentation and labeling in accordance with company standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Support timely and accurate updates in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) by assisting with data entry and validation of stock transactions.
- Participate in monitoring stock levels and contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing excess and aging inventory, including tracking slow‑moving items.
- Assist in planning and performing cycle counts and periodic physical inventory counts, including preparing adjustment requests, identifying basic root causes, and helping compile count reports.
- Learn to review and follow up on exception reports to help maintain WMS data integrity, including reviewing discrepancies, unmatched transactions, and inactive part numbers.
- Support internal field material transfers by helping coordinate documentation, monitoring progress, and ensuring required quality checks are completed in alignment with divisional quality standards.
- Assist with periodic self-assessments and audit preparation activities as guided by global SLB processes.
Experiences & Exposures
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Materials Management, or a related field.
- Fresh graduates or students seeking practical industry exposure are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new concepts to operational environments.
- Strong adaptability and ability to perform in fast‑paced and high‑pressure settings.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across warehouse, procurement, and field operations teams.
- Proficiency in English, with solid written, verbal, and reading abilities.
