In accordance with Section 123 of the Electricity Act, Cap. 157, the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has received an Application for a Certificate of Exemption from NOA Energy Services Uganda SMC Limited for the Generation and Distribution of Electricity from a solar-PV mini grid system proposed to be established on Bunjako Island in Mpigi District.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates for the proposed off-grid system are indicated in the table below in WGS 84:

The proposed off-grid system shall have a power generation plant with a 1,000 kWp Solar PV system and a 2,580 kWh Li-ion battery Storage. The generated power shall be used to electrify eight (8) villages on Bunjako Island and sold to the community in those villages.

Pursuant to Section 35 of the Electricity Act, the Authority invites directly affected parties, public agencies, authorities, and individuals in the project-affected areas to submit written objections or comments regarding the project.
