The Board of Governors Kyebambe Girl's Scondary School is located in Fortportal City-Kabarole District Western Uganda invites qualified and competent applicants for the following:
Job Purpose
To support the Bursar in maintaining accurate financial records, processing financial transactions, monitoring school revenues and expenditures, and ensuring proper accountability for school funds in accordance with approved financial procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Bursar will:
- Assist in recording and processing school financial transactions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Assist with preparation of payment vouchers, receipts and other financial documentation.
- Receive and account for authorised school payments.
- Assist with banking and reconciliation of school accounts.
- Maintain proper filing of financial documents.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and statements.
- Support monitoring of school income and expenditure.
- Assist in tracking outstanding fees and other receivables.
- Support procurement and payment processes in accordance with approved procedures.
- Assist the Bursar during internal and external audits.
- Ensure financial records are complete, accurate and properly secured.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and personal information.
- Assist with preparation of budgets and expenditure schedules.
- Report financial discrepancies or irregularities to the Bursar.
- Perform other finance-related duties assigned by the Bursar or Head Teacher.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Training in computerised accounting is an advantage.
Experience
- At least 1–2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience is preferred.
- Experience working in a school or educational institution is an advantage.
Key Competencies
- Good knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Integrity and high level of confidentiality.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
