The National Agricultural Research Organisation is established by the National Agricultural Research Act 2005 as a body corporate with the mandate to provide strategic direction for publicly funded agricultural research in Uganda. The organisation is composed of the Council as its governing body, Committees of Council, a Secretariat for its day-to-day operations with semi-autonomous Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARI’s) under its policy guidance. The Director General invites suitably qualified Ugandans to apply for the following positions at PARIs and NARO Secretariat.
Responsibilities or duties,
- Conduct Reproductive Research: Plan and execute research on animal reproduction, including estrus synchronization, embryo transfer, artificial insemination, and reproductive hormone analysis.
- Field Studies: Conduct field trials with livestock to evaluate reproductive technologies and management practices.
- Laboratory Analysis: Perform hormone assays (ELISA, RIA), semen analysis, and embryo evaluation.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Collect and analyze reproductive performance data, identifying factors affecting fertility and productivity.
- Develop Protocols: Establish and validate protocols for reproductive technologies.
- Report Writing: Prepare research reports, scientific papers, and recommendations for livestock producers.
- Extension Services: Disseminate research findings to farmers and stakeholders through training and outreach.
