JOB DETAILS:

Background

The National Agricultural Research Organisation is established by the National Agricultural Research Act 2005 as a body corporate with the mandate to provide strategic direction for publicly funded agricultural research in Uganda. The organisation is composed of the Council as its governing body, Committees of Council, a Secretariat for its day-to-day operations with semi-autonomous Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARI’s) under its policy guidance. The Director General invites suitably qualified Ugandans to apply for the following positions at PARIs and NARO Secretariat.

Responsibilities

• Design Farm Structures: Design and develop sustainable farm structures including animal housing, greenhouses, silos, irrigation systems, and storage facilities.
• Biosystems Engineering: Apply engineering principles to solve problems related to agricultural production, processing, and post-harvest handling.
• Prototype Development: Develop and test prototypes of farm machinery, equipment, and structures.
• Research Projects: Plan and execute research projects on farm infrastructure, renewable energy, and agricultural mechanization.
• Data Analysis: Analyze data on system performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Advisory Services: Provide technical advice to farmers and stakeholders on farm structures and machinery.
• Report Writing: Prepare research reports, technical manuals, and publications.

Qualifications/Requirements

The tenure of office is a 5-year contract renewable upon satisfactory performance.

Experience in Months: 12

Level of Education: bachelor degree
