JOB DETAILS:
We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Jubilee Health Insurance Company of Uganda. The position holder will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Role Purpose:
The Deputy Chief Operating Officer helps manage the operational aspects of the organization, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of various departments. They may be responsible for implementing and improving operational processes, streamlining workflows, and monitoring performance metrics. This position requires exceptional leadership skills, a strong operational mindset, and the ability to foster a positive organizational culture within the organization.

Main Responsibilities:
Strategy:

• Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer to develop and execute the organization's strategic plan, tailored to the health insurance industry.
• Assist in setting operational goals and objectives aligned with the overall business strategy, considering the specific challenges and opportunities within the health insurance sector.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements within the health insurance context and provide recommendations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Conduct thorough analysis of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to inform strategic decision-making for the health insurance organization.
• Operational:
• Oversee day-to-day operations across different departments within the organization to ensure seamless coordination and alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.
• Implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize business processes, including claims processing, policy administration, and customer service.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and identify areas for improvement, such as claims turnaround time, customer satisfaction, and cost containment.
• Identify and address operational risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies, including fraud prevention, data security, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Corporate Governance (Regulatory and Compliance):

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards specific to the health insurance sector, such as those set by government bodies, healthcare authorities, and insurance regulatory agencies.
• Develop and implement corporate governance frameworks and procedures tailored to the health insurance organization, considering privacy regulations, data protection, and ethical considerations.
• Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations specific to health insurance, including but not limited to health insurance laws, healthcare provider contracts, and policyholder protection regulations.
• Monitor and evaluate the organization's compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including conducting internal audits and coordinating external audits related to health insurance operations.

Leadership and Culture:
• Provide strong leadership and guidance to teams within the organization, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation while considering the unique aspects of the industry.
• Mentor and develop high-performing teams within the organization, encouraging professional growth and continuous learning, particularly in areas such as product development, analytics, and customer-centric service delivery.
• Promote a positive work environment within the organization that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, considering the specific needs of a diverse customer base and workforce.
• Drive the organization's values and culture throughout all levels of the company, aligning them with the mission and vision of the organization.

Academic Qualifications
• Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance or related fields. The person(s) should be holders of an MBA or Masters in a related field of expertise.
• Applicants who possess an Advanced Diploma in insurance or its equivalent and hold membership in recognized insurance professional bodies will have an added advantage.

Relevant Experience:
• Applicants should have at least seven years of relevant experience, half which should have been at senior management level gained in a reputable organization preferably in insurance or related institution
• Extensive experience in operations management or a similar leadership role within the health insurance industry, preferably in a large health insurance organization will be an added advantage.
