Job Purpose:

To operate medical imaging equipment (X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, etc.) to produce high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety and comfort while adhering to strict radiation protection and hospital protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures as prescribed by physicians.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, explaining procedures and ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Accurately position patients and adjust imaging equipment to capture the correct area and optimal image quality.
  • Operate and perform basic quality control checks on imaging equipment, reporting any faults.
  • Process digital images and ensure they are correctly uploaded to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records.
  • Adhere strictly to radiation safety guidelines for patients, staff, and self.
  • Assist Radiologists with specialized procedures when required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Radiography / Medical Imaging Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council of Uganda.
  • Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in a hospital setting.
  • Experience with multiple imaging modalities (Ultrasound, CT) is a strong advantage.
