Medical Officers (3 Positions)
Clinical Assessment: Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and differential diagnoses.
Treatment Planning: Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans and prescribe medications.
Emergency Care: Provide rapid assessment and stabilization for urgent and emergency cases.
Patient Monitoring: Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
Referral and Coordination: Identify patients requiring specialist care and make timely referrals.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient medical records.
Patient and Family Education: Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognosis clearly.
Supervision: Supervise and mentor junior clinical staff.
Qualifications: MBChB or equivalent, valid practicing license, and clinical experience.
Safely positioned and monitored patients during pre-operative and post-operative phases.
Accurate inventory records and stock management of medical sundries and supplies.
Safe disposal of biomedical and surgical waste.
Key Activities
Preparation: Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical tools using autoclaves and chemical protocols. Set up surgical trays, equipment, and operating tables.
Intra-Operative Support: Assist surgeons and anesthetists to scrub. gown. and glove. Pass instruments, cut sutures, apply dressings, and handle laboratory specimens.
Patient Care: Verify patient identity and surgical site checklists. Transport and position patients safely on and off the operating table. Provide basic care in the recovery room.
Infection Control & Safety: Adhere strictly to national infection prevention and control (IPC) standards. Safely dispose of hazardous waste.
Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of medicines, consumables. and linens, reporting shortages or drafting requisitions for replenishment.
Qualifications
Education: Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE/O-Level) equivalent.
Professional Training: A recognized Certificate in Theatre Techniques or Medical Theatre Assistant course (such as those from certified health training institutions or regional referral hospital programs).
Registration: Registration with the Allied Health Practitioners Council (where applicable) and a valid practicing license.
Experience: 1 to 2 years of relevant working experience in a busy hospital surgical environment is typically preferred.
