Description

Operations Managers will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of the manufacturing process. This includes planning production schedules, monitoring workflow, ensuring machinery and equipment are operational, and implementing process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency. They also ensure that production meets company standards and specifications while minimizing costs. Quality Control and Compliance: He/she will establish and maintain quality control procedures to ensure products meet industry standards and customer expectations. Should monitor production KPIs, conduct inspections, and collaborate with quality assurance teams to address defects or inefficiencies. Compliance with health, safety. Staff Management and Development: Operations Managers will hire, train, and supervise production staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety regulations. Should manage team performance, resolve conflicts, provide coaching, and implement incentive programs to motivate employees. Delegating tasks and assigning work schedules are also part of the responsibilities. Resource and Budget Management: He/she will oversee the procurement of raw materials, equipment, and other resources, negotiating with suppliers and vendors to ensure cost-effective purchasing. Operations Managers prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, and allocate resources efficiently to support production goals. Strategic Planning and Cross-Departmental Coordination: Operations Manager will collaborate with engineering, procurement, logistics, and other departments to optimize production processes. They develop operational policies, implement new technologies, and reorganize production layouts when necessary. Strategic planning includes anticipating potential issues, forecasting production trends, and making decisions to improve overall operational performance. Continuous Improvement and Innovation: They drive initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and implement lean manufacturing practices. Operations Managers evaluate new manufacturing techniques, adopt automation where applicable, and ensure the plant remains competitive and productive. Accountability and Reporting: Operations Managers will be accountable for production output, cost, quality, and safety. He/she will report to the Director of Operations, providing insights on performance metrics, operational challenges, and improvement strategies. Team Management: They supervise supervisors, production teams, and technical personnel, delegating tasks, setting work schedules, and motivating staff to achieve operational goals. Developing strong supervisors is key to extending their leadership impact across shifts.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of soap manufacturing processes, quality, management systems.

Soft Skills

Excellent leadership, problem solving and organizational skills. Proficiency in inventory management and MS Excel/production reporting. High integrity and ability to work under pressure.

Education & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial management, Industrial chemistry, or Business Administration, Operations management or related fields.

Additional Details

Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with direct exposure to saponification, cosmetics or chemical building. Experience in soap/detergent/cosmetics is a strong advantage.
