Role Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for planning, executing, and continuously improving all manufacturing activities at Soleil Power’s battery production facility. This includes oversight of lithium-ion battery assembly lines (prismatic and cylindrical), workforce management, production scheduling, quality compliance, and operational efficiency.

The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring direct involvement in daily production activities while helping to build systems, processes, and team capacity to support scale.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

  • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production plans aligned with sales forecasts and inventory availability
  • Ensure production targets (volume, yield, and timelines) are consistently achieved
  • Coordinate raw material availability with procurement and logistics teams
  • Optimize staff and machine utilization across multiple production streams (cylindrical and prismatic)
  • Monitor and manage WIP (work-in-progress) and finished goods output

Team Leadership & Workforce Management

  • Lead and supervise production technicians, engineers and operators along with support from the engineering team
  • Train and upskill staff in battery assembly processes, safety procedures, and quality standards
  • Establish clear performance metrics and accountability across the production team
  • Foster a disciplined, safety-focused, and performance-driven culture

Process Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Standardize production processes through SOPs and work instructions
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase throughput and reduce waste
  • Lead commissioning, calibration, maintenance and optimization of production equipment
  • Collaborate with Engineering/R&D on new product introduction and prototyping
  • Drive lean manufacturing practices where appropriate

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and testing protocols
  • Work closely with quality assurance to reduce defects and improve yield
  • Maintain production records to support traceability and certification requirements (ISO, UN, IEC)
  • Ensure proper implementation of material inspections, in-process checks, final testing and OEM reporting
  • Support audits and certification processes where necessary

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management

  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of all machinery
  • Identify and mitigate production-related risks (thermal, electrical, mechanical)
  • Work with the Environmental/OHS function to maintain compliance with IMS requirements
  • Lead incident reporting and corrective action implementation on production-related incidents and non-conformities

Inventory & Resource Management

  • Supervision of store and storekeeper
  • Monitor usage of raw materials and components to minimize waste and losses
  • Coordinate with warehouse and procurement on stock levels and reorder planning
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of cells, modules, and finished batteries
  • Track and manage tooling, consumables, and equipment utilization

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Track and report key production KPIs, including:
    • Output volume
    • Yield and rejection rates
    • Downtime and equipment utilization
    • Labor productivity
  • Provide regular production reports to management
  • Identify bottlenecks and propose corrective actions

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field)
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing or production environments
  • Prior experience in battery manufacturing, electronics assembly, or similar industries
  • Demonstrated experience managing production teams and scaling operations
  • Experience working in early-stage manufacturing environments is an advantage

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of production systems and workflow optimization
  • Familiarity with lithium-ion battery systems, BMS integration, or electrical assembly
  • Experience with production equipment such as welding systems, test equipment, and assembly lines
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and process documentation
  • Proficiency in Excel, google sheets and basic production tracking tools
