Consultancy Services for Design Review andConstruction Supervision of Katuna-Muko-Kamuganguzi Road (104km) Lot II from Gravel to Paved (Bituminous) Standard
REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
Sector: Transport | Procurement Reference No. UNRA/SRVCS/2023-2024/00048 | Project ID No. P-UG-DBO-035 1. The Government of Uganda (SOU) has received financing seven (57) months including twelve (12) months of Defects from the African Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost Notification Period. of upgrading the Katuna-Muko-Kamuganguzi Road (104km)- Lot II and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the Consultancy Services for Design Review and Construction Supervision of Katuna-Muko- Kamuganguzi Road (104Km) Lot Il from Gravel to Paved (Bituminous) Standard.
UNRA plans to upgrade Muko-Katuna Road (86.5Km) and Muko-Kamuganguzi (37km) from Gravel to Bituminous standard to facilitate increased access, trade, and tourism within South Western Uganda. The project roads are located in south western Uganda and connect the greater Kabale and Rubanda Districts at the boarder of Uganda and Rwanda about 440km from the capital city. Kampala. All roads are generally unpaved having an average roadway width of 3.0m, comprised of some sections that are well maintained, some are currently under re-gravelling and others are still earth road sections. The roads are generally characterized by corrugations, potholes, rutting, dustiness, stoniness, loose aggregate, loss of camber and gullies in the road in a medium degree of severity.
The Services consist of Design Review and Construction Supervision of the Muko-Katuna Road (68.5Km) and Muko-Kamuganguzi (37km) Road upgrading project to enable efficient and proper implementation of the project. The Consultant Services shall include but not limited to the following:
i. Provision of the required pre-construction services aimed at ensuring a smooth project start, implementation, and delivery in the context of the selected contractors, by minimizing project risk. This shall include Design Review and Update of the Detailed Design, review of contractor's proposed methodology and where necessary, reinstatement of survey controls, addressing outstanding land acquisition, undertaking of incidental designs.
ii. Supervision of the proposed Katuna- Muko-Kamuganguzi Road (104Km)-Lot Il construction works, Design and Supervision of Improvement Works on the health centres of Habubare Rubaya in Kabale District and Supervision of Construction of the Village Footbridges by Bridges to Prosperity (B2P):
iii. Facilitation of Implementation of Environmental Management Plan (EMP), Environmental Monitoring Plan (EMP) and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP).
The duration of the assignment is expected to be fifty-
This assignment is restricted to firms who are registered or incorporated in African Development Bank (ADB) Member Countries.
The Government of Uganda (GoU) through Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) now invites eligible consultancy firms to indicate their interest in providing these services Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures. description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.) Consultants may constitute joint ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.
Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank's "Procurement Policy for Bank Group- Funded Operations approved October 2015, which is available on the Bank's website at http://www.afdb.org.
