On behalf of our client in the manufacturing sector, we are looking for competent, skilled and experienced HR Associate to join our team in Mbarara.
Job Summary
The Associate HR supports the delivery of strategic and operational HR services across the organisation. The role ensures effective execution of HR processes across talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, learning and development, HR analytics, compliance, and employee engagement while maintaining high standards of HR governance, data integrity, and service delivery.
The role works closely with the HRBP and functional leaders to ensure HR programs are implemented effectively, employee issues are managed professionally, and HR systems and processes support organisational objectives.
Key duties and responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Execute recruitment workflows including interview scheduling, background checks, and offer letter preparation.
- Manage relationships with recruitment vendors including job boards, recruitment agencies, and assessment providers.
- Ensure compliance with recruitment documentation and onboarding procedures.
- Process hiring requisitions and maintain recruitment metrics dashboards.
- Maintain headcount tracking registers across all organisational grades.
Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards
- Administer payroll processes, benefits enrollment, and leave management systems.
- Ensure statutory compliance including PAYE, NSSF contributions, and labour law requirements.
- Maintain HRIS data integrity for all compensation records and employment contracts.
- Process staff reimbursements, salary advances, payroll deductions, and vendor invoices.
- Support salary structure maintenance and compensation benchmarking.
- Support annual salary review processes and pay-for-performance initiatives.
Employee Relations & Workplace Culture
- Administer grievance handling processes including documentation and case tracking.
- Manage employee exit processes including resignations, exit interviews, and settlements.
- Maintain employee disciplinary records and ensure compliance with HR policies.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and surveys.
Learning, Development & Capability Building
- Coordinate training logistics including scheduling, venues, LMS administration and attendance tracking.
- Maintain training databases and certification records.
- Generate training utilisation and development reports.
- Support identification of skill gaps and training needs.
HR Technology & HR Data Analytics
- Administer HR systems including HRIS configuration and user access.
- Generate HR reports including headcount, turnover, attendance and workforce analytics.
- Prepare HR metrics dashboards for management.
Performance Management
- Administer performance review cycles and timelines.
- Support performance calibration sessions.
- Maintain performance improvement plan documentation.
Compliance, Risk & Governance
- Maintain accurate employee records compliant with labour regulations.
- Support HR audits and maintain policy documentation.
- Process employee confirmations, promotions and transfers.
Organisational Effectiveness & Employee Engagement
- Support organisational change initiatives.
- Maintain organizational charts and job structures.
- Support internal communication on HR policies and programmes

Required Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 2–3 years of progressive HR operations experience
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (
- Working knowledge of Ugandan labour law, Employment Act, NSSF, and PAYE regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HR reporting tools
- Experience supporting payroll processing and compensation administration
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion
