JOB DETAILS:

P.2–P.3 Reading / English Teacher

Salary: UGX 400,000 per month

Job Purpose

The P.2–P.3 Reading/English Teacher will be responsible for teaching English and reading skills to pupils in Primary 2 and Primary 3, helping learners develop strong foundations in reading, writing, comprehension, vocabulary, and communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English and reading lessons for P.2 and P.3 pupils.
• Teach phonics, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, spelling, and writing.
• Develop pupils' reading fluency and confidence.
• Use age-appropriate teaching methods, stories, exercises, and learning materials.
• Assess pupils' reading, writing, and English language skills regularly.
• Identify learners who need additional support and provide appropriate assistance.
• Maintain classroom discipline and create a positive learning environment.
• Track pupils' academic progress and maintain relevant records.
• Encourage pupils to communicate effectively in English.
• Work cooperatively with other teachers and school management.
• Communicate relevant concerns regarding pupils' progress or behaviour.
• Participate in school activities and other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

• Relevant teaching qualification or experience in primary education.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Experience teaching lower primary pupils is an advantage.
• Strong reading and phonics teaching skills.
• Patience, creativity, and ability to work effectively with young learners.
• Good communication and classroom management skills.
