Background

Social Worker / Assistant Warden – Children’s Home | Lira City, Uganda

We are looking for a committed and experienced Social Worker / Assistant Warden to join our approved Children’s Home in Lira City, northern Uganda, caring for approximately 30 children aged 5–17.

This is a practical role combining professional social work and case management with active involvement in the daily operation of the Children’s Home.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Child protection, case management and family reintegration
  • Following up on children’s wellbeing and development
  • Supporting the daily operation of the Children’s Home
  • Guiding and coordinating Home Parents
  • Working with children, families, probation officers and relevant authorities
  • Maintaining case documentation and supporting reporting and compliance

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong practical experience in case management and child protection
  • Good communication, organisational and coordination skills
  • The ability to work independently, take responsibility and work well with others
  • A genuine commitment to the wellbeing and protection of children
  • Christian faith and willingness to work within the values of God Helps Uganda

Experience in a Children’s Home or residential childcare setting, as well as experience with family reintegration, is an advantage.

Male candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.

  • Location: Lira City, Uganda
  • Full-time | Non-residential
  • Approximately two overnight stays at the Home per month
  • Start: As soon as possible
