The VENN department is the data and technology backbone of our organization, connecting advanced analytics, and custom software tools with field implementation to ensure data-informed decision-making at every level.
Job Summary
The Area Field Supervisor (AFS) serves as the vital link between core MEL administration and ground level execution. Within the Venn department RTV’s technical engine you will safeguard the integrity of our data ecosystem. This role is responsible for the end-to-end supervision of field data collection activities, ensuring that the information driving our poverty-alleviation models is accurate, timely, and cost-efficient. You will lead field teams, troubleshoot technical tools, and innovate collection methods to help RTV reach its goal of impacting 1 million lives annually.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Integrity & Quality Assurance
- Lead rigorous pre-rollout testing for mobile data collection tools to ensure logic and skip patterns function perfectly.
- Conduct real-time monitoring and spot checks of enumerators to eliminate bias and ensure adherence to RTV’s data protocols.
- Support data quality check activities including audio audits and remote call backs for completed field activities
- Champion and enforce best practices in data ethics and integrity across all regional field activities.
2. Field Leadership & Capacity Building
- Directly supervise and coach Field Supervisors and enumerators, fostering a culture of precision and accountability.
- Facilitate technical training sessions for field teams on survey methodology and mobile platform navigation.
- Act as the primary regional focal point for identifying and reporting project risks, ensuring technical or logistical bottlenecks are resolved by the Venn team promptly.
- Lead the training of trainers in building capacities for the field teams both at supervision and field execution.
3. Operational Planning & Resource Management
- Overseeing the scheduling and deployment of enumerators to meet strict survey deadlines.
- Coordinate with short term contractors and Field Supervisors to ensure cost-efficient survey execution.
- Maintain oversight of DCI Inventory at the regional level, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and functional.
4. Technical Innovation
- Identify opportunities to leverage SurveyCTO, CommCare, or ODK features (such as GPS tracking or audio audits) to improve data reliability.
- Contribute to the design of leaner, faster, and more secure data collection workflows.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Economics, Monitoring & Evaluation, or related fields. Post graduate diploma in M&E is an added advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in M&E or data-heavy field research, ideally within the NGO sector.
- Technical Stack: Advanced proficiency in mobile data platforms (e.g., SurveyCTO, ODK, CommCare, or Survey123).
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel (Data cleaning, Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Familiarity with statistical software (Stata or SPSS) is highly desirable.
- Communication: Proven ability to translate complex technical data findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Logistics: Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time to remote, rural locations.
