JOB DETAILS:
Community Health Impact Coalition is making professional community health workers the norm worldwide by changing guidelines, funding, and policy. We research to equip international norm setters with evidence. We advocate to influence global financing institutions. And we activate in-country CHW networks to sway policymakers. CHIC includes CHWs and global health organizations in 40 countries. We exist because CHWs work. Our vision is quality care for all, including those who provide it.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
CHIC is looking for two (2) CHW Organizers to help CHWs actively participate in discussions aimed at enacting national laws to optimize community-led health systems based on WHO guidelines which recognize pre-service training, duration of the training, curriculum competencies, CHWs certification, support supervision, remuneration, contracting agreements, career progression, availability of supplies, among others.

These CHW Organizers will enlist the assistance of other CHWs to influence policy change. For far too long, CHWs have been excluded from discussions about their work and communities. Right now, our primary goal is to assist two (2) CHW organizers from Uganda (1) and Sierra Leone (1) in mobilizing fellow CHWs to achieve pro-CHW policy change in their respective countries, bringing together a large number of CHWs who will be able to fight for their own workforce needs.

The successful candidates will be the primary beneficiaries of the CHW organizer’s training program, which will include defining goals, objectives, and a strategic approach; mapping out actions to achieve results, including timelines and key steps; building partnerships; and utilizing negotiation and media campaigns.

The CHW Organizers will…
● Collaborate closely with the CHW Engagement Lead, Coalition members, and CHWs
In order to:
● Increase the adoption of a digital CHW Advocacy Training Course.
● Recruit fellow CHWs from across the country to form a national association of CHWs to apply their advocacy skills to influence regional and national policy, collaborate across borders, and effect change at the national, regional, and international levels.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

DRIVE UPTAKE OF COURSE
Share the link and enroll as many CHWs as possible in the Digital CHW Advocacy Training course; engage fellow CHWs in-country through meeting and activating networks; engage and assist fellow CHWs in completing the course as learning partners, and use WhatsApp and Viber groups to send reminders to learners to complete the course.

CONNECT CHW WITH OPPORTUNITIES
Connect CHWs with opportunities to apply advocacy skills. Design and implement an advocacy project of your choosing; information sharing and knowledge management in WhatsApp and Viber groups; and advocate for CHW participation in activities in their home countries.

NATIONAL NETWORKS
Organize a national network of CHW Advocates engaged in advocacy. Developing key insights, lessons learned, and positive practices that can be shared with other CHWs, Champions Networks, and Associations in dedicated spaces; and support the formation and coordination of WhatsApp Groups and the establishment of group norms.

REPORTING
Network and engage with CHIC members in-country with updates on CHWs activities and plans; join monthly CHIC-facilitated CHW Ambassadors meeting (to be scheduled for a time zone suitable to CHWs); report back to CHIC and fellow organizers on in-country efforts to mobilize other CHWs; submit a written quarterly report, and regularly update the CHW Engagement Lead on activity participation progress.
