The Principal is the head of a College in the University as established by Law.

Term of office of a Principal
The Principal is appointed for a term of four years and may be renewed for one further term only. Salary: Scale M3 as established by law. Purpose of the job

Purpose of the job
• To provide strategic leadership on the College's academic, administrative, and financial matters. Functions of a Principal
• Be the chief administrative, academic and financial officer of the College:
• Promote and maintain academic excellence, efficiency and good order at the College;
• Implement University policies and enforce applicable regulations at the College;
• Exercise such other functions as may be prescribed by the University Council.

Eligibility
Eligible candidates should possess the following attributes:
• Hold PhD or other academic Doctorate in a relevant discipline;
• Be at least of the rank of Senior Lecturer or its equivalent at the time of application;
• Four (4) years of managerial experience in an institution of Higher Learning or a Research Institution with a track record of having served at least as a head of an academic department or an academic programmes coordinator, or a research project manager;
• Teaching experience of at least five (5) years in any of the disciplines offered in the College he/she intends to lead:
• Applicants at the rank of Senior Lecturer should not be above 56 years of age at the time of application;
• Applicants at the rank of Associate Professor should not be above 61 years of age at the time of application.
• Applicants at the rank of Professor should not be above 66 years of age at the time of application:
• Applicants must have demonstrable experience in networking, research and resource mobilization.
