Position: Accounting Officer
Number of vacancies: 1
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Debunk Media Initiative is looking for a qualified Accounting Officer with experience in fundraising and resource mobilisation to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the organisation’s financial operations while supporting fundraising efforts, including identifying funding opportunities, developing proposals and strengthening the organisation’s financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting, financial records, budgets and financial reports.
- Track organisational expenditure and support proper financial accountability.
- Identify relevant grants, donors and other funding opportunities.
- Coordinate the development of concept notes, proposals and funding applications.
- Develop and support new ideas for mobilising financial and in-kind resources.
- Support grant budgeting, reporting and compliance.
- Work with the wider team to connect programmes and ideas with potential funders and partners.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
- Proven relevant work experience in accounting and financial management.
- Experience or strong knowledge of fundraising, resource mobilisation and grant writing.
- Strong proposal and budget development skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of integrity.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- CPA, ACCA or progress towards a professional accounting qualification.
- Experience working with NGOs, media organisations or donor-funded projects.
