About the Role

Reporting to the Accountant, the Accounts Assistant role will support the Finance Department in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting in financial reporting while ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare and post journal entries in the accounting system
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and files

Reconciliations & Controls

  • Perform bank, cash, supplier, and customer reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances
  • Support implementation and adherence to internal controls

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Review and process supplier invoices and payments
  • Monitor receivables and support debt collection activities
  • Ensure accurate aging analysis for payables and receivables

Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

  • Assist in making payments of statutory returns (e.g. PAYE, VAT, NSSF, NHIF, Withholding Tax)
  • Support tax computations and compliance requirements
  • Maintain statutory records and documentation

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring
  • Track expenditures against approved budgets
  • Flag variances and recommend corrective actions

Audit & Risk Management

  • Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits
  • Respond to audit queries in a timely manner
  • Support risk identification and mitigation within finance operations.

Who We’re Looking For

Academic & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Progress in Professional accounting courses (CPA/ACCA) is an added advantage

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in relevant experience.

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Integrity and confidentiality
