Application for a Certificate of Licence Exemption

for the Development of the Proposed 135KW Solar PV Isolated Grid Systems

In accordance with Section 123 of the Electricity Act, Cap. 157, the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has received an Application for a Certificate of License exemption from FRES Uganda Ltd for the Development, Generation and Distribution of Electricity from Solar PV Isolated grid systems proposed to be established in the villages of Kanyabihara and Rwebishuri in Kiruhura District and Rwigi village of Kaza District, as detailed below:

Combined Installed Capacity

The power generated shall be sold to the communities of Kanyabihara, Rwebishuri and Rwigi through three off-grids.

Interested persons are invited to inspect the Application/Notice from the addresses below:-

1. Electricity Regulatory Authority
   ERA House, Plot SC-1, 37 Street – Lugogo, Industrial Area

2. ERA Western Region Office, Plot 7, Golf Road, Morarca City
   The Offices of the Resident District Commissioners, Chief Administrative Officers, and LC V Chairpersons for the Districts of Kiruhura and Kaza

Pursuant to Section 30 of the Electricity Act, the Authority invites directly affected parties, public agencies, authorities, and individuals in the project-affected areas to submit written objections or comments regarding the project. Submissions can be made by post, hand delivery, email, or other recorded delivery methods to the Authority of the address provided below or via email: secretary@era.go.ug. All submissions must be received not later than 30 (Thirty) days from the date of publication of this Notice.
