Job purpose
Primary responsibility is to provide 1st and 2nd level technical support and problem resolution, primarily via phone or remote desktop support tools, to the organization’s employees. This position is responsible for troubleshooting issues with all organization hardware, cloud, and application systems within the Kampala office by promptly responding to user calls, service requests, and system alerts. The Associate, Information Technology will perform system and account maintenance, in close consultation to Senior Associate IT.

Duties and responsibilities
IT Support
• Install hardware and software following User requirements.
• Troubleshooting and computer Maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
• Install, operate and maintain network services, routers, concentrators, hubs, switches, modems, and other network devices following technical plans.
• Resolve network communications problems in the office.
• Install or repair Windows computers with standardized applications and networking software, diagnosing and solving problems that develop in their operations.
• Respond to user questions and explain the operation of network applications and equipment.
• Support the senior Associate IT, to offer remote support to users using the appropriate approve software
• Trouble shoot any network related hiccups and act as the main contact person between the organization and the internet service providers
• Provide 1st and 2nd level technical support and problem resolution for hosted applications, computers, printers, copiers, and wireless/network issues
Technical support
• Maintain and support the organization’s mobile devices (smartphones and tablets).
• Offer technical support to procurement unit on all IT related procurement needs e.g. laptops, CCTV cameras, printers, desktop, projectors, monitors etc
• Support Admin team on trouble shooting biometric office access
Inventory Management
• Ensure Uganda office IT equipment are appropriately tagged
• Ensure IT equipment in Uganda offices are accurately updated in the inventory management system for cost control and operational efficiency.

Key performance Indicators
• Ensure a sustained 99% internet server uptime in the different Uganda offices
• Reduced staff unresolved IT issues for the Uganda team
• Sustain a 97.5% accuracy in IT equipment inventory in the fresh start service for the Uganda offices
• Reduced turn around time in resolving IT related issues among the staff
• Procurement team is receiving the appropriate technical support on IT matters are purchasing the right equipment
• IT system is safe and free from any potential attacks

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Information and Communications Technology or a related field.
• Experience in End User Support and Database Management.
• 1-2 years’ work experience in a position with similar responsibilities.
• Experience in introduction, implementation and adoption of relevant technology and data management tools.
• Experience in Network management, configurations and installations.

Working conditions
The official working hours is 8:00am to 5:00pm from Monday to Friday. However, this job requires a flexible person as one may work beyond official working hours including weekends.
