Placement Details
Placement Title: AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC INTERN
Placement Location: Kampala
Number of Internship Opening: 01
Duration of Internship Placement: 8 Months (Internship)
Expected Start Date: ASAP
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
In close collaboration with the Workshop team and under continuous guidance of the assigned supervisor during this placement period, the Automotive Mechanic Intern is to learn tasks regarding servicing, repair and maintenance of MSF vehicle fleet and motorised engines according to MSF standards and procedures and the mechanic’s instructions, to ensure the proper running of the vehicles and equipment.
KEY AREAS OF LEARNING
- Conducting A services on vehicles and basic services on motorised engines (generators, pumps, etc.), according to the instructions listed in the logbook or MSF documents.
- Carrying out B services and assisting with B and C services for vehicles, and major services for motorised engines, under supervision.
- Performing maintenance activities of all motorised machinery (water pumps, generators, etc.), as well as other mechanical installations.
- Spare parts management - Filling in stock cards of spare parts and how to carry out physical stock inventory.
- Workshop administration internal processes - Filling in logbook regarding services, spare parts, repairs and maintenance carried out in each vehicle and motorised machinery and mechanical installations.
- Automobile electrical and onboard diagnostic systems (OBD) repairs in vehicles.
- Tyre management, fitment systems, and wheel balancing.
- Health (First Aid), Safety (Use of PPEs), Environment and Waste Management.
- Vehicle inspections and reporting on defects and works process flow.
- Ensuring proper use, storage and maintenance of the equipment and tools provided.
- How to report any mechanical or other problems related to the vehicles and when repairs are required because of inappropriate driving or use of vehicles and equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Vocational Diploma in Automotive Mechanics or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Motor Vehicle Technician Course Part II (Advance). (Evidence of school completion transcripts in the last exams will be mandatory.)
Experience: Fresh Graduates ONLY (Preferably 2024 and 2025 Graduates)
Competencies/ Skills: Team worker, flexibility, rigour, pro-activeness, ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment
Language: English is mandatory, French is a strong asset
