The Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Service (BEMS) unit of the Hospital must assure that the clinical activity in the sensitive area of interaction between technology, medical personnel and patients is always safe, smooth, and reliable.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installs new biomedical equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating and testing performance
- Supervises new equipment installation by third parties
- Maintains equipment by following preventive maintenance assignments, conducting tests and troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions
- Carries out equipment operation demonstrations, instructing the healthcare staff about correct use of equipment and its care
- Helps to evaluate proposals for new equipment
- Contributing to the preparation of biomedical reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends
- Any other duties that may be assigned
Required abilities:
- Is able to install, maintain and repair most biomedical machines
- Consults technical manuals and knows how to read technical drawings of biomedical machines
- Has knowledge of how to use a computer for machines diagnostics
- Familiar with Microsoft Office package (especially Word and Excel).
- Able to use technical equipment for diagnosis, testing, calibration and repair of biomedical machines (e.g. insulation tester).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field from a recognized institution.
- 2-3 years' working experience in a medical equipment environment.
- Familiarity with healthcare safety regulations and medical equipment standards.
- Experience in equipment calibration and safety testing is an added advantage.
