Business Development Officer Trainee
Department: Business Development
Reports To: Business Development Manager
Location: Kampala, Uganda (Office and Field-Based)

Job Purpose
The Business Development Officer Trainee supports the growth of Lafab Solutions by identifying potential clients, assisting in business development activities, conducting market research, and building relationships with prospective and existing clients. The trainee will receive practical training in corporate sales, HR outsourcing, workforce management, recruitment services, proposal preparation, and client relationship management while contributing to the achievement of the company's business development objectives.

This role is designed to develop future Business Development Officers capable of independently managing corporate accounts and delivering workforce solutions to organizations across Uganda.

Responsibilities or duties

1. Lead Generation

  • Identify potential corporate clients through research and field prospecting.
  • Build and maintain a database of prospective clients.
  • Generate qualified leads through cold calls, emails, referrals, social media, networking, and field visits.
  • Schedule appointments with prospective clients.
  • Follow up on enquiries and marketing campaigns.

2. Business Development Support

  • Assist in promoting Lafab Solutions' services to prospective clients.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Prepare meeting notes and follow-up action points.
  • Support the preparation of quotations, proposals, and service presentations.
  • Learn consultative selling techniques under supervision.

3. Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with clients.
  • Record client interactions in the company's CRM or reporting system.
  • Support client satisfaction initiatives.
  • Escalate client concerns to supervisors where necessary.

4. Market Research

  • Research target industries and organizations.
  • Identify business opportunities for the company's services.
  • Monitor competitor activities and market trends.
  • Gather information that supports business development strategies.

5. Marketing Support

  • Participate in corporate marketing campaigns.
  • Represent Lafab Solutions at career fairs, exhibitions, networking events, and business forums.
  • Distribute company marketing materials.
  • Support digital marketing activities by identifying content ideas and engaging prospective clients.

6. Proposal and Documentation Support

  • Assist in preparing:
    • Business proposals
    • Company profiles
    • Quotations
    • Service presentations
    • Tender documents
  • Maintain organized records of proposals and client correspondence.

7. Service Knowledge Development

Develop a strong understanding of Lafab Solutions' services, including:

  • Outsourced Casual Workforce Management
  • Temporary Staffing
  • Permanent Recruitment
  • Executive Search
  • Domestic Staffing (Housemaid Placement and Management)
  • Payroll Support
  • Salary Surveys
  • HR Consultancy
  • Workforce Technology Solutions

8. Collaboration

Work closely with the HR Operations and Recruitment teams to:

  • Understand client workforce requirements.
  • Support successful recruitment projects.
  • Learn workforce deployment processes.
  • Ensure smooth communication between clients and internal teams.

9. Reporting

Prepare weekly activity reports covering:

  • Leads generated
  • Calls made
  • Client visits
  • Meetings attended
  • Follow-ups completed
  • Opportunities identified
  • Market intelligence gathered
  • Lessons learned during training
