Job Summary:

The Cashier is responsible for processing and managing all cash, credit, debit, and check transactions accurately. This role acts as the final point of contact for customers during the payment process, ensuring a positive closing experience while safeguarding company assets against fraud or loss.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process customer transactions accurately (cash, credit cards, digital wallets, gift cards, and vouchers).
  • Count cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure correct balances.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
  • Resolve customer disputes regarding transaction errors or pricing (escalating to management when necessary).
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts against system reports and prepare bank deposits.
  • Identify and report counterfeit currency or suspicious transactions immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized checkout station, including adequate supplies of change, receipt paper, and bags.
  • Assist with end-of-day closing procedures, including balancing the safe.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of experience in cash handling or retail math preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Excel and Point of Sale (POS) software.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
