Job Summary:
The Cashier will be responsible for managing all cash transactions from seed shop sales, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with company financial procedures. The role safeguards company funds, maintains proper documentation, and supports timely reporting to the Accounts Department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recording sales transactions accurately and vigilance.
- Maintaining safe custody of banking slips, deposit records, and financial documents.
- Ensuring that all cash collected each day is banked intact without delay.
- Avoiding diversion of collected cash for office use unless explicitly authorized by management.
- Forwarding banking documents and related cash sales promptly to the Accounts Department.
- Maintaining safe custody of all cash at all times, ensuring zero loss or breach.
- Safeguarding petty cash and issuing payments only after proper approvals have been documented.
- Preparing monthly banking reports at the end of each month for submission.
- Coding petty cash expenditures accurately for reimbursement and posting to the general ledger.
- Verifying and issuing receipts for all cash received from mobile sales staff.
- Performing any other duties assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- A Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- CPA 11/ACCA 11 or an equivalent accounting qualification from a recognized institution
- Proficiency in computer applications
- At least 2 years’ experience in cash handling or financial operations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Working knowledge of computer applications.
- High integrity, honesty, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
