Chief Civil Engineer

Job description
The Chief Civil Engineer will be responsible for managing the construction teams during projects implemented by the company. The successful candidate will be the primary interface between design engineers, field personnel, and the client to ensure proper project execution. He / She shall define the specific activities taking into consideration the Master Project Schedule, as well as labour, material and equipment availabilities throughout the project lifecycle within the allocated budgets.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Prepare the deliverables planning of the civil and construction disciplines, in line with the project schedule.
• Control, review and monitor any progress deviation from the plan and set up recovery plan, as necessary.
• Approve all deliverables issued by the civil and construction disciplines for the company projects.
• Ensure that civil engineering is developed with the proper coordination among the other disciplines.
• Supervise Construction team in the Work Requisitions process including quantities, scope of work, work description, evaluation, follow up, approval of technology and documentation
• Analyse project constraints and take prompt actions to solve any issue arising during engineering development.
• Ensure a sound and reliable project quantity estimate and control.
• Propose optimization/changes to minimize quantity/costs or optimize project schedule

Qualifications
• A Bachelor of Civil Engineering with professional recognition.

Skills and experience
• 8 years’ experience as a civil engineer on major construction projects, out of which 3 years should be in a senior management role
• Takes personal responsibility for client satisfaction.
• Displays technical leadership and is exemplar in quality delivery and review processes.
• Takes responsibility and accountability for work activities and coordinating project implementation.
• Listens effectively and clearly presents information.
• Fosters honest, open and transparent communication.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
