The Role

We are looking for an experienced and strategic CFO to lead Asaak’s financial operations and drive the company’s growth. This role is crucial in establishing and optimizing financial systems, ensuring compliance, and securing capital to support Asaak's expansion across Africa, Latin America, and future markets. The CFO will partner closely with Asaak’s Senior Leadership Team and Board to shape financial strategy, provide insights into business performance, and ensure the company meets its financial goals.

This role requires a forward-thinking leader who understands the nuance of scaling in emerging markets, with the ability to raise capital, navigate regulatory environments, and build a best-in-class finance function across borders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Capital Planning

  • Lead long-term financial planning to ensure sustainable profitability and cash flow across markets.
  • Manage Asaak’s capital structure, balancing equity, debt, and internally generated capital.
  • Drive scenario analysis, expansion modeling, and unit economics evaluation across products and geographies.

Capital Markets & Fundraising

  • Own investor relations and debt capital markets
  • Lead execution of institutional capital raises, including structured debt, SPVs, and trust arrangements
  • Maintain relationships with VCs, DFIs, family offices, and private credit funds.
  • Ensure covenant compliance and investor reporting standards are met.

Financial Operations & Controls

  • Oversee group accounting, treasury, and compliance, ensuring accurate and timely consolidation of multi-country financials.
  • Implement scalable financial systems, cash management, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with local GAAP, IFRS, and tax regimes in all jurisdictions.
  • Manage audits (statutory and internal), and oversee transfer pricing, intercompany accounting, and FX hedging.

Risk & Governance

  • Build and maintain an enterprise risk management (ERM) framework.
  • Monitor financial risk exposures including liquidity, credit risk, counterparty, and FX.
  • Liaise with legal and compliance functions to uphold corporate governance and fiduciary responsibilities.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing global finance team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Product, Legal, and Country GMs to support financial decision-making and execution.
  • Represent finance at the executive and board levels with clear, data-driven communication.

Experience

  • Education: Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA, CPA, CFA, or ACCA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years in progressively senior finance roles, ideally in fintech, lending, or financial services in emerging markets.
  • Proven experience in fundraising: Series B+, institutional debt facilities, and managing investor relations.
  • Deep knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS), tax, and audit in multi-entity and multi-currency environments.
  • Experience with financial infrastructure and systems implementation (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, or similar).
  • Understanding of loan servicing, portfolio performance analysis, and financial products in credit-heavy businesses.
  • Familiarity with securitization, trust structures, or warehouse lending a plus.
  • Prior leadership over geographically distributed teams across LATAM and/or Africa is a strong advantage.

Who You Are

  • Strategic & Visionary: You connect financial planning with business strategy and can guide the company through changing market conditions.
  • Operationally Grounded: You understand how to implement efficient, compliant, and scalable systems in complex environments.
  • Analytical & Rigorous: You bring clarity to complexity with strong modeling and data-driven decision-making.
  • Builder & Leader: You love to develop teams and processes, leaving things better than you found them.
  • Culturally Fluent: You thrive in multicultural settings and understand the nuance of operating across different regulatory and business environments.
