JOB DETAILS:
WaterAid seeks a consultant to:
- Strengthen the link between WASH and cholera control, leveraging insights from initiatives like:
- Political economy analysis of cholera.
- Advocacy with policymakers.
- Support the Global Roadmap to End Cholera by 2030 (via WaterAid’s role in the GTFCG’s WASH Working Group).
- Address systemic issues:
- Underinvestment in WASH services.
- Reactive (vs. preventive) health-sector responses.
- Climate change exacerbating cholera risks (e.g., floods, droughts).
Key Statistics:
- Untreated cholera can have a 50% fatality rate; with interventions (clean water, treatment), this drops to 1%.
- Climate-related disasters (cyclones, droughts) worsen water access and cholera spread.
