Job Description
AMI is now looking for an entrepreneurial leader to expand our Uganda presence as the Country Lead to deliver on existing projects, expand relationships, build new partnerships in Uganda, and build the country’s leading team in enterprise and skills development.
The successful candidate will be a key senior member of AMI’s dynamic, international team. This is a great opportunity for candidates with a passion for entrepreneurial development to play a part in Uganda’s growth.
Leadership
• Represent AMI at a senior level in Uganda and be the face of AMI locally
• Develop AMI’s strategy for growth in Uganda, with other senior leaders and lead strategy execution
• Develop AMI’s brand in Uganda, through events and partnerships to become a sector leader
• Build and lead a Ugandan team of staff and contractors
• Drive revenue targets and manage costs in line with budget as the budget owner
Project Delivery
• Oversee roll-out of existing SME projects in Uganda, working with our team on the ground to ensure excellent delivery and stakeholder management
• Ensure projects are delivered to client satisfaction and impact goals are met.
• Work with AMI’s product and learning teams to tailor AMI’s approach and content to reflect local context.
Business development
• Lead development of new, revenue generating and strategic partnerships in Uganda with the aim of further embedding AMI in the Ugandan ecosystem
• Oversee local marketing of AMI brand in Uganda, including driving applications to AMI programmes and managing local marketing resources
Operations, Finance & HR
• Ensure AMI is fully compliant as a local entity in Uganda
• Work with the central finance team to monitor book-keeping, payments, invoicing, payroll and general financial management and governance for AMI Uganda
• Oversee general office management, including rental and utilities agreements as well as procurement
• Work with the central HR team to maintain HR systems, policies and processes, including contracts, compensation and benefits

Requirements
Experience

• At least 10 years’ experience, with 4 years working at a senior level in enterprise development
• Experience leading a team, and leading either an organisation or a project/department within an organisation
• Proven track record of delivering/exceeding commercial targets
• Masters degree or equivalent experience with strong academic background

Skills and Competencies:
• Deep understanding of enterprise and skills development in Uganda
• Strong senior networks in enterprise and private sector development in Uganda
• Commercial hustle – you are not afraid to get out there and build partnerships! You love building new relationships and have the instincts of a great deal-maker
• Entrepreneurial energy - you have a track record of launching new businesses or projects and are comfortable in a high-growth environment
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills, and gravitas with senior stakeholders
• High levels of personal energy and drive, excellent judgement and ability to work independently to build a market
• Creative thinker with a "get things done" mindset, who can quickly adapt to new ideas and pivot based on the situation on the ground
• Great people manager, can shape culture and inspire a team to deliver results
