Role Description:

The Field Officer is responsible for mobilizing clients, conducting loan appraisals, supporting loan disbursement, monitoring repayments, and maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio. The role involves extensive fieldwork, strong community engagement, and direct client support, while ensuring compliance with credit policies, regulatory standards, and institutional procedures to promote responsible lending and portfolio growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Mobilization & Business Development

  • Identify, sensitize, and recruit potential clients within assigned areas.
  • Facilitate group formation and training for group lending methodologies.
  • Promote loan, savings, and other financial products.
  • Build strong relationships with community leaders and local networks.

Loan Appraisal & Processing

  • Conduct detailed loan assessments including business visits, household checks, and cash-flow analysis.
  • Verify client information, guarantors, collateral, and business viability.
  • Prepare accurate appraisal reports and ensure clients understand loan terms and obligations.

Loan Disbursement & Portfolio Management

  • Support timely and compliant loan disbursement.
  • Monitor repayments through field visits, center meetings, and follow-ups.
  • Maintain portfolio quality by ensuring on-time repayments and actively recovering overdue loans.
  • Take proactive action to reduce Portfolio at Risk (PAR).

Customer Service & Client Support

  • Provide basic financial literacy and business advisory support to clients.
  • Handle client inquiries and complaints professionally.
  • Maintain a positive institutional image in the community.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly field and portfolio reports.
  • Maintain accurate client documentation and system entries.
  • Adhere strictly to credit policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Immediately report suspected fraud, misrepresentation, or operational risks.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s in Microfinance, Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 2–5 years microfinance experience preferred.
  • Fieldwork experience required (motorcycle riding skill is an advantage).
