This role supports project feasibility, investment decision-making, benefit-sharing transparency, and long-term project sustainability. The Finance Analyst will work closely with project managers, carbon methodology experts, and community engagement teams to ensure that financial models reflect the true cost, revenue potential, and risk profile of each carbon project.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Select and adapt approved carbon accounting methodologies for project feasibility.
  2. Develop financial models for project feasibility studies (CAPEX, OPEX, IRR, NPV, payback).
  3. Conduct sensitivity and scenario analysis for carbon price, issuance risk, and operational costs.
  4. Support the preparation of investment decks and financing structures.
  5. Forecast carbon credit issuance and revenue streams based on baselines and methodologies.
  6. Provide input to benefit-sharing arrangements, ensuring financial flows to communities and government align with EACC’s obligations and Uganda’s Climate Change Regulations.
  7. Prepare and monitor project budgets and expenditure forecasts.
  8. Support financial reporting and audits in line with IFRS and obligations under the GoU Agreement.
  9. Assist in cost optimization and cash flow management for multi-year carbon project portfolios.
  10. Assess financial risks, including delivery shortfalls, price volatility, and non-permanence buffers.
  11. Collaborate with the legal and policy team on financial terms in contracts.
  12. Support funding applications and investor due diligence processes.

Required Expertise & Qualifications

  1. 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, investment appraisal, or project finance, ideally in renewable energy, climate finance, or environmental projects.
  2. Proficiency in financial modelling and scenario analysis, preferably in Excel or similar tools.
  3. Knowledge of carbon markets, climate finance, or nature-based solutions (NBS) is a strong advantage.
  4. Experience in Uganda or Sub-Saharan Africa is preferred.

Education & Certifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  2. Professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA, CFA Level 1/2) are an advantage.
  3. Training in climate finance, carbon markets, or sustainable investment is a plus.

Required Competencies

  1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  2. Ability to translate technical project inputs into clear financial projections.
  3. Skilled in communicating complex financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
  4. Team-oriented, able to work across technical, ecological, and community teams.
  5. Committed to integrity, transparency, and sustainable development outcomes.
