Street Child believes that every child deserves the chance to be safe, in school and learning. Street Child in Uganda:

Street Child has been working in Uganda since 2018, supporting refugee and host communities through integrated education, child protection and livelihoods programming. Working closely with local partners, communities and government institutions, Street Child supports children to access quality education, improve learning outcomes and remain safe and protected. Our programmes are implemented through a strong localisation approach, with national organisations playing a central role in programme delivery.

Part 3: Person Specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional accounting qualification (or working towards one)

Desirable

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent)

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance roles, preferably in an NGO or development context
  • Strong experience in financial management, budgeting, and reporting
  • Experience managing multi-project or multi-donor budgets
  • Experience working with financial systems and large datasets

Desirable

  • Experience with donor-funded programmes (e.g. UN, EU, institutional donors)
  • Experience working with local partners and capacity strengthening
  • Experience in humanitarian or complex operating environments

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Desirable

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with accounting software

  • Strong commitment to child safeguarding and protection
