About the Role

We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented HR Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our HR consulting practice. This role provides hands-on support across recruitment, employee documentation, interview coordination, engagement, and general HR administration, often across multiple client accounts. The ideal candidate is organised, discreet, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support recruitment activities: job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and recruitment documentation
  • Assist with new employee onboarding and orientation
  • Ensure all required employee documentation is completed and properly filed
  • Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files (physical and electronic)
  • Update and maintain HR databases, trackers, and HRIS systems
  • Assist with preparing employment contracts, HR letters, and other HR documents
  • Track attendance, leave, probation, and employee confirmation timelines
  • Support performance management processes, including appraisals and documentation
  • Assist with disciplinary and employee relations matters, maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Respond to routine employee inquiries; escalate complex matters to the HR Manager
  • Support training coordination, staff meetings, and other HR activities
  • Support compliance with labour laws, company policies, and HR procedures
  • Assist with payroll preparation and verification of employee information as needed
  • Prepare basic HR reports and maintain accurate records
  • Perform other HR and administrative duties as assigned by the HR Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field
  • 1–2 years of relevant HR or administrative experience
  • Basic knowledge of HR principles and practices; working knowledge of Uganda's labour laws is an added advantage
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets)
  • Strong organisational, time-management, and follow-up skills
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Professional, proactive, and people-oriented approach
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the HR field
