JOB DETAILS:
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Head of Programs with a background in Education interventions for non- profit, to provide leadership and management in programs by developing program protocols, onboarding new partners, supervising programs performance and helping to navigate performance obstacles.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the delivery and overall success of each program therefore; you must have a strategic mindset and a broad knowledge of program management principles.
He /she will supervise Program Managers as well as lead and develop the entire Programs Team.
The ideal candidate should be able to use data to inform implementation and realignment by making evidence-based decisions across programs and within our networks of stakeholders.

Main Duties:
Leadership
• Manage, supervise and build the capacity of Program Managers in quality project development, management, and implementation. Provide regular guidance to program staff in planning and monitoring detailed implementation plans and activities.
• Build capacity of staff and partners (through training and coaching sessions of teams and individual staff in organization) in program management, performance management, implementation, and reporting.
Operations Planning and Implementation
• Draft program protocols and controls for all programs to ensure effective implementation and management of the program.
• Oversee the development and ongoing monitoring of work plans, project/program designs, and annual plans of all programs.
• Participate in the development of proposals for resource mobilization, as required.
• Program Monitoring and Reporting
• Facilitate effective impact monitoring, evaluation, documentation, and reporting in line with agreed organizational targets and standards in collaboration with the M&E team.
• Provide high quality reports of each Program activities to the Executive Director as per agreed schedule.
• Ensure appropriate filing and availability of documentation required for internal and external communications, accountability, audits, evaluation purposes, and reporting.
Management of Donors, Partners and other Program stake holders
• Attend Donor Meetings and present program status, whenever required to
• Facilitate effective onboarding and management of partners and other stake holders
• Support in regular partner appraisals and overall Programs Department audits and quarterly reviews.
Financial/Budgeting and Assets Management
o Budgeting – Facilitate periodic planning and budgeting for all programs and projects in line with planning and budgeting guidelines and timelines in collaboration with Finance Manager.
Budget Management – Monitor program and project budget expenditure are within the planned time frame and approved budgets with Finance Manager.

Qualification:
• Bachelor’s Degree International Business, Business Administration or a related field
● Post Graduate Diploma in M&E, Project Management is essential
• Master in Project Management is an added advantage.

Experience:
· At least 10 years of progressive work experience with a minimum of 4 years in Education Programs and 3 Years in Program Management in an NGO or similar organization.
• Strong experience in project grants management for large and complex projects, including project design, budget preparation, expenditure tracking, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, etc., for projects funded by multiple public donors
• Substantial experience with successful business development activities capturing significant donor funding, including proposal coordination, proposal writing, and agreement negotiation.
• Staff management experience and competencies that are conducive to fostering an open learning environment. Experience coaching and mentoring senior program staff.
• Experience and abilities in capacity strengthening - developing curricula and facilitating trainings.

Experience engaging partners and strengthening partnerships
Skills and Competencies:
• Excellent spoken and written English skills. Ability to effectively represent the Organisation in a variety of public and private forums.
• Excellent strategic, analytical, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills, with capacity to see the big picture and ability to make sound decisions.
• Strong relationship management abilities. Ability to relate to people at all levels internally and externally. Strategic in applying tailored approaches to each relationship.
• Team leadership abilities with diverse/multi-disciplinary teams including coaching/mentoring skills
• Presentation and facilitation skills
• High level of accountability and personal integrity
