Job description
EnerGrow’s success will be based on ensuring we have the right people at the right time and are optimizing the talent within the company. We have a start-up culture of experimentation, idea generation, hard work, and chipping in wherever help is needed on the team. We currently have 30+ team members managing several grant-supported projects all driving EnerGrow towards becoming a sustainable asset financing business.

This role will be a key contributor to our growing company, ensuring we are building, retaining, and taking care of our exceptional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an excellent employee experience at EnerGrow from onboarding, through effectively managing grievances, reported indiscipline, performance, time off, and other staff-related engagements.
The HR Associate will take the lead on developing, implementing, and adapting the human resource management policies, systems, and processes and carry out HR administration. These systems and processes are still being developed and this role will help shape them.

What you will make happen
Technical
Support
• Oversee the implementation of the performance management process.
• Maintain and improve the organization's policies, systems, and procedures (and design and refine where missing or incomplete) and provide technical support to staff in line with these.
• Ensure transparency, accuracy, and monitoring compliance with rules and regulations.
• Collaborate with Department Heads to ensure that the hiring needs and planning targets are met.
• Maintain and manage the HR database and all staff files, providing recommendations to improve and guide the digitalization of the HR function.

Staff Engagement
• Implement staff welfare and benefits schemes, in line with industry standards and budget constraints.
• Own budgets and logistics for all staff engagement activities.
• Advises employees on matters related to benefits and entitlements.

Administration

• Support hiring managers with recruitment administration.
• Maintain accurate employee records according to policy and legal requirements.
• Draft contracts and any other correspondence to staff and consultants for sign-off by management.
• Review and advise finance on payroll and commission payments.
• Administration and tracking of leave.
• Provide technical support to hiring managers to ensure strategic talent planning and acquisitions process.
• Implement training programs for the team in line with EnerGrow’s objectives and procedures and develop induction programs for all staff members.
• Collaborate with Department Heads to ensure that there is succession planning and talent development for all team members.
• Develop and implement EnerGrow’s performance management process.

What you already have:
• At least 1 year of experience in human resources, using HR management systems and applicant tracking systems for recruitment.
• An understanding of human resources best practices.
• Conversant in Uganda Employment Act, labor regulations, and employment equality.
• Familiarity with spreadsheets.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
