IT SPECIALIST at Ultra Uganda Ltd
Job Purpose:
To design, build, and integrate computer and information systems that meet specific business needs. This role provides strategic guidance in the development process and makes technical decisions to ensure solutions are effective, scalable, and aligned with business, customer, and user requirements.
Scope of Duties:
- Serve as the primary client-facing IT role, addressing product questions and providing technical support.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to design flexible, scalable, and resilient architectures (including cloud solutions) that address business challenges.
Reporting Lines:
This position reports directly to the Managing Director.
Extent of Authority:
- Develop tailored blueprints for business requirements and oversee their implementation.
- All decisions (operational, financial, etc.) are advisory and supportive in nature.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure design, software architecture, cloud development, data archiving, or related areas.
- Experience with digital asset management systems and archival software (preferred).
- Strong understanding of data governance and compliance requirements.
Complementing Skills & Abilities:
- Strong project management skills.
- Expertise in managing digital archives and repository systems.
- Familiarity with file formats and digital preservation strategies.
- Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and data migration.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
- Lead IT system integration processes to meet client needs.
- Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing architectures.
- Design and implement high-availability, fault-tolerant systems.
- Develop security solutions to protect client systems and data.
- Oversee enterprise-wide installation and configuration of hardware, software, networks, and peripherals.
- Resolve or escalate technical issues to appropriate teams/vendors.
- Build and manage relationships with technology vendors.
Strong project management skills. Expertise in managing digital archives and repository systems. Familiarity with file formats and digital preservation strategies. Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and data migration. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
