Job Summary

We are seeking motivated, customer-oriented, and results-driven Loan Officers to join our growing team. The successful candidates will be responsible for identifying prospective clients, processing loan applications, assessing borrowers' creditworthiness, managing loan portfolios, and ensuring timely loan repayments. This role is ideal for individuals with strong communication, marketing, and customer service skills who are passionate about financial inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit new clients for the organization's loan products and services.
  • Market and promote loan products to individuals, groups, and businesses.
  • Receive and process loan applications in accordance with company policies.
  • Assess applicants' creditworthiness through interviews, document verification, and field assessments.
  • Conduct client visits and verify business and financial information where necessary.
  • Prepare loan appraisal reports and recommend suitable loan facilities.
  • Monitor loan utilization and ensure compliance with loan terms and conditions.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date loan portfolio.
  • Follow up with borrowers to ensure timely loan repayments.
  • Implement effective loan recovery strategies for overdue accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage repeat business.
  • Maintain accurate client records and prepare regular performance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with the organization's lending policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in microfinance, banking, SACCOs, or credit operations is desirable but not mandatory.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management abilities.
  • Marketing and sales skills with the ability to recruit new clients.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good financial and numerical skills.
  • Strong record-keeping and documentation skills.
  • Loan appraisal, monitoring, and recovery skills.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve assigned targets.
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
