Description

Job Purpose

To support the operational regulatory registration activities of the Office, including the receipt, review and processing of registration applications under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, Cap. 97 and its attendant Regulations

Key Accountabilities

  • Review registration applications received by the Office to verify the completeness and accuracy of the required documents and information.
  • Assist in conducting conformity reviews of registration applications in accordance with applicable regulations and established processes.
  • Support the planning, scheduling, conduct and reporting of registration application reviews, and maintain accurate records of applications processed.
  • Follow up with applicants on corrective actions required to close non-conformities identified and raised during registration application reviews.
  • Process enquiries and complaints relating to registration in liaison with set procedures.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagements, training and awareness activities on registration obligations under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, Cap. 97 and its attendant Regulations.
  • Carry out research on registration and licensing practice, including its applicability to emerging technologies, to support improvement of the Office’s registration processes.
  • Provide administrative and data entry support for all registration matters, including maintenance of the register of data collectors, data processors and data controllers.
  • Perform any other duties, which may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, Business Computing, Information Security or a related field from a recognized university is required.
  • Training or certification in data protection and privacy, cybersecurity, networking or quality assurance is an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least six (6) months of relevant experience in compliance, auditing, inspection, quality assurance, technical assessments or information and communications technology support services within a reputable public or corporate organization
  • Exposure to the review of applications, records or reports against a defined standard, checklist or procedure is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable interest in data protection and privacy and its intersection with emerging technologies is an added advantage

Technical Competencies

  • A basic understanding of Data Protection and Privacy laws.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data, and to apply relevant laws, standards and regulations to a given set of facts.
  • Detail oriented, with accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard office productivity and database applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, and work under minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Able to prioritise and co-ordinate assigned tasks to support delivery of the department’s objectives and goals.
  • A resilient team player with a ‘can do’ attitude, who is willing to learn and to take responsibility for assigned work
