The role of Warehouse operations & Logistics Manager is critical to ensuring efficient handling, storage, and distribution of technology and commercial related goods and equipment across MTN Uganda's supply chain. In line with the company’s strategic objectives, there is a need for dedicated oversight to manage inventory, coordinate deliveries and align logistics operations with business targets. This position will support timely execution of all project rollout and improve operational responsiveness.

Job Title: Manager - Warehouse Operations & Logistics

Reports to: Senior Manager - Supply Chain

Main Job Functions:

KPIS

Technology proficiency with ERP systems, warehouse equipment and automation initiatives.
Minimal to Zero stock discrepancies -<1%
Efficient inventory levels; Maintaining optimal inventory levels according to annual targets
Customer centric & Agile
Efficient customs & tax regulatory management.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

Train and mentor warehouse staff to improve performance and foster a culture of creativity, teamwork, and agility.
Foster continuous learning and awareness of logistics trends and supply chain operations
Operational Oversight
Direct and monitor daily warehouse and logistics activities to ensure timely clearance, receipt, and issuance of cargo in line with purchase order specifications and quantities.
Ensure safety and security of all goods stored in MTN Uganda warehouses.
Strategically plan and manage logistics and warehouse operations creating an unmatched customer experience.
Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle.
Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency.
Conduct periodic physical stock counts and reconcile with system records
Identify and co-ordinate disposal of obsolete equipment in liaison with technical and asset teams.
Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements.
Working proactively with various departments to realize efficiencies and manage expectations.
Enforce adherence to ISO 9001:2015 standards through documented procedures, audits, and corrective actions.
Policy & Compliance
Develop , implement & ensure compliance to all applicable organization policies not limited to the Supply Chain Policy & Procedures.
Logistics Planning & Coordination
Negotiate cost-effective logistics solutions across road, air and sea transport.
Handle insurance for transit goods and manage claims for damaged items.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare monthly and quarterly logistics and warehouse performance reports
Ensure up to date documentation of all logistics & daily warehouse operations.
Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain credible business relations with internal departments, customers, key regulatory bodies and clearing agents to support in operations management.
Coordinate with customs and forwarding agents to ensure compliance with import/export procedures
System & Process Improvement
Lead digitization efforts and implementation of warehouse management systems to enhance operational efficiency
Resolve ERP system-related issues to ensure smooth operations. .

Education

BSc in Logistics, Procurement and Supply chain management or relevant field
Proven work experience in a similar role is required.
Good understanding of supply chain procedures.
Working knowledge of warehouse management software and computer proficiency
Membership certification with CILT or CIPS is mandatory. MBA or MSc is of added advantage.
Work Experience

A minimum of 5- 7 years’ experience in a similar role of a large organization .
Operation of Warehouse management systems during day-to-day transactions.
Efficient inventory and logistics management
Quick turn around time while serving internal and external stake holders.
Skills / physical competencies:

Must be able to communicate fluent in English (speak, read, write)
Possess defensive driving skills.
Interpersonal skills.
Accuracy.
