Background

HOLY INNOCENTS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

Responsibilities

Medical Officers are responsible for providing comprehensive clinical care to patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

  • Clinical Assessment: Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and differential diagnoses for patients presenting with various conditions.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, prescribe medications, and initiate appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Emergency Care: Provide rapid assessment and stabilization for urgent and emergency cases, recognizing clinical red flags early.
  • Patient Monitoring: Monitor patient progress, review treatment outcomes, and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Referral and Coordination: Identify patients requiring specialist care and make timely referrals to consultants or higher-level facilities.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient medical records.
  • Patient and Family Education: Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognosis clearly to patients and families.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with nurses, clinical officers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Continuous Learning: Participate in continuous medical education, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervision: Supervise and mentor junior clinical staff, including Clinical Officers and Interns.
