We are looking for two dynamic enthusiastic and highly qualifies people to fill the positions of Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Job Summary

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officers will work closely with the PMEL Manager to support with the Implementation of project specific activities, provide technical support to project partners and staff. The Officers will report on all project monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning activities for Forestry, Freshwater and wildlife projects. Their knowledge and support will contribute to determining how effective, adaptive and innovative WWF UCO’s programming and their service-oriented approach ensures that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of our conservation initiatives.

In this regard, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officers will support;

Implementation of PMEL system:

  • Leads the development and implementation of project specific monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned projects M&E activities as outlined in the project M&E frameworks, Detailed Implementation Plan in line with WWF Network standards, WWF UCO M&E strategy, and industry good practices.
  • Provides technical backstopping to implementing partners by collating, analyzing, consolidating monitoring data, and preparing reports of the projects’ activities and processes, using the monitoring tools in place;
  • Conduct monitoring visits and consultations on the review of progress on a periodic basis and encourage stakeholders’ involvement at all stages;
  • Develop monthly, quarterly, or annual reports depending on project requirements.
  • Track the implementation of recommendations from studies, management, stakeholders and donor visits.
  • Keenly monitor and report any M&E-related challenges and gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
  • Lead the roll-out and implementation of the project’s Environmental Safeguards and Social Framework (ESSF) mitigation measures.
  • Support field-level data management activities (including digital data collection) and assist partners in their efforts to collect and ensure timely analysis of project data per specified mechanisms and tools.
  • Conduct periodic data quality assessment for the assigned conservation projects
  • Collect information on project staff and partner M&E capacity needs and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and monitor M&E capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.
  • Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising Forestry, Wildlife, and Freshwater practices.
  • Support project learning and decision making by posing thoughtful questions, engaging with project data, reflecting upon and sharing with project management the information gathered from community members and partners.

Documentation and Dissemination

  • Follow-up on project activities and documents results, and best practices from the activity implementation and ensure exchange and dissemination of lessons learnt across the project staff and partners.
  • Support project staff to prepare project progress reports
  • Support knowledge management processes, including documentation, sharing, learning and adaptive management, thereby building the monitoring and evaluation capacity amongst project staff and partners.

Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Development Studies, Economics, Public Health, Environmental Sciences, Project Management, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or other related fields;
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation or Project Management is a MUST
  • A master’s degree in any of the above-mentioned fields is an added advantage
  • At least three (03) years working experience in monitoring and evaluating environmental related projects.
  • Good understanding of the Project Cycle Management
  • Good GIS knowledge and skills
  • Strong knowledge of M&E practices and methodologies
  • Experience in practical field implementation of Natural Resources Management and related results-based management-oriented monitoring systems.
  • Experience in designing, planning, and implementation of project M&E systems.
  • Knowledge of Participatory approaches, and application of the logical framework.
  • High level of computer literacy (competent in MS Office), and experience with one or more types of data analysis and management software (Power BI and Microsoft Excel)) strongly preferred;
  • Detail-oriented with good technical report writing skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English;
  • Experience of working in an international and/or multicultural -cultural environment, with NGO experience an advantage;
  • Adherence to WWF’s values, which are: Courage, Integrity, Respect and Collaboration.
