Department: Marketing & Ventures

Works Closely With: Job Placement Coordinator, Downstream Partner Manager, MEAL Team

Location: Kampala + periodic travel to partner training hubs

Contract Type: Full-time

Role Purpose

Master Trainers are responsible for delivering hands-on, practical, project-based media training to young women in the Uganda Creatives Program. The role ensures that learners gain real production skills, build professional discipline, and graduate with portfolio–ready work that can be used to secure paid opportunities in the industry.

Responsibilities

A. Training Delivery

  • Teach using real industry workflows, production tools, timelines, briefs, and collaborative team assignments.
  • Conduct daily practical exercises, drills, guided editing/production tasks, and performance check-ins.

B. Project Supervision & Output Quality

  • Lead the development of team-based production projects (e.g., short films, shows, radio segments, graphic promo packs).
  • Guide learners through pre-production, production, and post-production phases.
  • Ensure each trainee graduates with at least one polished portfolio project.

C. Mentorship & Professional Readiness

Coach learners on:

  • Professional discipline
  • On-set etiquette

  • Creative collaboration
  • Delivering to deadlines
  • Conduct periodic 1-on-1 mentorship check-ins.

D. Assessment & Reporting

  • Provide weekly learner skills assessment updates to the Curriculum & Training Manager.
  • Identify top talents for internship and work placement pipelines.

E. Training Environment & Safeguarding

  • Support a safe, respectful, inclusive learning environment.
  • Model anti-harassment, gender-inclusive studio conduct.
  • Report safeguarding concerns immediately according to program protocol.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated professional expertise in one of the listed specializations (portfolio needed).
  • Experience training, supervising, or coaching junior creators or media students (formal or informal).
  • Familiarity with collaborative creative workflows.
  • Share a Portfolio of work done
  • A Degree or Diploma is an added advantage

Competency & Behavioural Expectations

  • Hands-on. Patient. Professional.
