Responsibilities or duties
Provides direct non-clinical care and welfare support to admitted mothers and newborns, assisting nursing staff with comfort, hygiene, feeding support, and patient orientation. The Patient Carer role reduces ward congestion and enables clinical staff to focus on clinical care.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) minimum
- Caring, compassionate character; ability to work with vulnerable mothers and newborns
- Willingness to follow nursing and ward protocols at all times (full training provided)
- Ability to perform physical care tasks: lifting, positioning, and assisting with hygiene
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work shifts including nights and weekends
- Luo required; basic English literacy required
