Background

The National Agricultural Research Organisation is established by the National Agricultural Research Act 2005 as a body corporate with the mandate to provide strategic direction for publicly funded agricultural research in Uganda. The organisation is composed of the Council as its governing body, Committees of Council, a Secretariat for its day-to-day operations with semi-autonomous Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARI’s) under its policy guidance. The Director General invites suitably qualified Ugandans to apply for the following positions at PARIs and NARO Secretariat.

Responsibilities

• Strategic IT Planning: Develop and implement the institution's IT strategy, aligning with organizational goals.
• Network Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the institution's network infrastructure.
• System Administration: Manage servers, databases, and enterprise applications (e.g., email, file sharing, research databases).
• Cybersecurity: Develop and implement cybersecurity policies, ensuring data protection and system integrity.
• IT Projects: Lead major IT projects including system upgrades, software development, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop the IT team.
• Budget Management: Manage the IT budget and oversee procurement of hardware and software.
• Policy Development: Formulate IT policies, procedures, and user guidelines.

Tenure of Office

The tenure of office is a 5-year contract renewable upon satisfactory performance.

Experience in Months: 12

Level of Education: bachelor degree
