Background

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) is the largest African Coca-Cola Bottler, accounting for 40% of all Coca-Cola volumes on the continent. In Uganda, we are currently seeking to recruit a Process Artisan Mechanical based at Rwenzori Plant in Kampala.

As a Process Artisan Mechanical, you will report directly to the Team Leader Packaging.

Key Purpose Statement

To maintain and optimize process equipment reliability and performance through effective maintenance, asset care, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety, quality, and food safety standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Key Outputs & Accountabilities

  • Equipment Maintenance & Reliability: Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance, reliability, and availability.
  • Breakdown Management & Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical faults, perform timely repairs, and support rapid resolution of equipment failures to minimize downtime.
  • Asset Care & Performance Monitoring: Drive asset care practices, monitor equipment performance, and ensure machines operate at optimal conditions and rated speed.
  • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to eliminate recurring failures and improve equipment efficiency.
  • Spare Parts Management: Ensure effective utilization, accountability, and control of spare parts to support maintenance requirements and cost efficiency.
  • Safety, Quality & Food Safety Compliance: Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices, quality, food safety, Coca-Cola standards, and Supply Chain Way practices and maintenance standards to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Technical Support & Capability Development: Provide technical support to shift teams by optimizing equipment performance, troubleshooting machine failures, coaching operators, facilitating effective shift handovers, and ensuring production continuity.
  • Maintenance Planning, Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance records, develop work instructions, coordinate shift handovers, and participate in technical reviews to drive operational excellence.

Skills, Experience & Education

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirement: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Mechanics, Mechatronics or a related technical field.
  • Added Advantage: Proficiency in computer applications and technical systems.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 year’s relevant experience in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment functionality and packaging processes.
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance, fault diagnosis, and equipment repairs.

  • Problem Solving, Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Quickly diagnoses faults, identifies root causes, and implements lasting solutions to improve equipment reliability.
