Background

King Ceasor University (KCU) is a chartered private university committed to academic excellence, innovation, research, and quality assurance in higher education. Through its School of Science, Computing and Engineering, the University seeks to recruit distinguished scholars who will provide strategic academic leadership, strengthen research excellence, promote innovation and enhance the University's national, regional and international reputation in Computer Science. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Professor – Computer Science.

Role

The Professor – Computer Science shall report to the Dean, School of Science, Computing and Engineering and shall:

  • Provide strategic academic leadership in Computer Science teaching, research, innovation and postgraduate education.
  • Lead the planning, development and continuous improvement of undergraduate and postgraduate Computer Science programmes.
  • Strengthen the University's research profile through internationally recognised scholarship, research collaborations and innovation.
  • Mentor academic staff, postgraduate students and researchers while building sustainable research capacity within the Department.
  • Represent the University in national, regional and international academic, professional and policy forums.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Dean or University Council.

Purpose of the Job

To provide strategic academic and research leadership in Computer Science through excellence in teaching, innovation, postgraduate supervision and scholarly publication; strengthen the University's research competitiveness; promote industry collaboration and international partnerships; and contribute to national and global digital transformation through impactful research, innovation and knowledge generation.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate shall:

  • Provide strategic leadership in the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of undergraduate and postgraduate Computer Science programmes.
  • Lead curriculum development, programme review and accreditation to ensure compliance with National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) requirements and international quality standards.
  • Teach specialised undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computer Science and supervise Master's and PhD students to successful completion.
  • Develop and sustain internationally recognised research programmes in Computer Science and related computing disciplines.
  • Publish consistently in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at leading international conferences.
  • Secure and lead major competitive research grants, consultancy projects and multi-institutional research collaborations.
  • Mentor Associate Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers and early-career researchers in teaching, research, publication, grant writing and academic leadership.
  • Promote innovation, technology transfer and commercialization of research outputs where appropriate.
  • Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with industry, government, professional bodies and international universities to support collaborative research, innovation and graduate employability.
  • Contribute to University governance through leadership in Senate, academic committees, quality assurance, strategic planning and institutional policy development.
  • Represent the University at national and international conferences, professional associations, accreditation bodies and strategic academic engagements.
  • Promote departmental initiatives including coding festivals, innovation challenges, hackathons, cybersecurity awareness programmes and community digital transformation projects.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the University Management.

Remuneration

An attractive remuneration package shall be offered in accordance with King Ceasor University's Terms and Conditions of Service.

Tenure

The Professor – Computer Science shall hold office in accordance with King Ceasor University's Terms and Conditions of Service and subject to satisfactory performance.
