Role context

We are looking for a dynamic and technically skilled Project Sales Engineer to support the acquisition, planning, execution, and successful completion of engineering projects across Kenya and the wider East African region.

This role blends technical engineering expertise with project management and sales support, ensuring project proposals are accurate, competitive, and aligned with client requirements. The ideal candidate has experience in solar, water, or engineering-based projects with a strong ability to prepare technical/financial bids and manage customer relationships.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Handle customer enquiries and provide professional technical guidance.
  • Manage and grow client relationships within NGO, Government, and Contractor segments.
  • Lead tender responses and prepare high-quality technical and financial proposals.
  • Monitor project proposals submitted to clients and track conversion to sales.
  • Support field offices (Uganda & South Sudan) with project RFQs and proposal development.
  • Review and approve project costings, pricing, and margins prior to job initiation.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits when required.
  • Review weekly project progress, challenges, timelines, and cost performance.
  • Approve project completion reports and ensure timely invoicing and documentation.
  • Provide overall management, coordination, and reporting for all assigned project works.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Civil Engineering. Water & Environmental Engineering OR Project/Construction Management with technical exposure
  • Prior in engineering project management, technical sales, or project engineering.
  • Strong experience responding to tenders and preparing technical & financial bids.
  • Experience with projects in solar pumping, water systems, borehole equipping, or infrastructure is a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, costing, and ensure project profitability.
  • Excellent client-facing skills and ability to handle NGO and Government customers.

  • High-level planning, coordination, and time management
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and commercially aware
